ebay no longer allowing negative feedback

As an honest seller I think I welcome this change. If you resolve the issue within the means and time frame set out by eBay's own resolution process then why should you have to worry about getting a negative feedback to boot.

Though I can certainly see how it might benefit the unscrupulous.

Well if you screwed up in the first place the fact you've since resolved the matter doesn't change that fact and the negative feedback could still be warranted.

I wouldn't sell a damn thing on Ebay. Facebook for sale pages and Gumtree are far far better.

After years on Ebay I left neg feedback sometime back for the very first time after an item was sent to me that was clearly faulty, it cost me to send it back (before the rule change) The seller tried to bribe me to remove it, Ebay removed it for him and said that they couldn't tell me why, after that the seller went from grovelling to being openly abusive towards me.

I still buy on Ebay but I never leave any feedback for anyone, good or bad. I consider their feedback system to be broken.

I don't trust eBay at all, and only buy stuff from Amazon proper or via an Amazon Marketplace seller, where the fulfillment is actually done by Amazon. I may pay a bit more money for the item but I know that Amazon will send it promptly, and will step in if the marketplace seller or Amazon themselves send me something that is broken or not fit for purpose. Amazon is awesome. \o/ :D

Why google havent tried to set up a competitor never ceases to amaze me. Surely they could wipe ebay out in one swoop.

Cause google don't want rhe pr nightmare it wouls inevitably end up as

Its not that ebay is is **** its that humans are ****

Because if evay had to step in you where a bad seller and deserve negative feedback.

Be good at your job get good reviews.

Be **** at your job and have to have the "authorities" step in and force you to refund the buyer, get bad reviews

I hope you reported it because they'll earn an infraction for that if proven. Theres no way it'd put me off leaving f/b. The more they're abusive the more they get reported!

What makes you think people would behave any differently on google than on eBay?

Wow well that shows me how long it's been since I've used eBay - Didn't know they removed Negative feedback for buyers, let alone sellers.

They got too greedy in the end for my liking - The fees are extortionate (For sellers at least...)

I can agree with this but the only dealings I have had personally with eBay Resolution Centre have been from buyer's abusing it to force a free return after the already forced 14-day return window. The threat of a negative feedback can influence how you respond to cases where you know you're in the right.

Mistakes happen

If you make a mistake when selling and then put it right why should you get negative feedback ? My dad runs a business mainly off eBay and has that sort of trouble every so often

People in this thread have mentioned the same sort of troubles too

If buyers can leave neg feedback for every little thing then you can end up much worse off than a non eBay business.

Cause you only put it righr when evay made you?

Or more simply you ****ed up.

It's a review, you **** up you get a bad review.

OP, doesn't work the other way around either

sold something on ebay, seller doesn't communicate or pay, I claim it back, but I cant leave feedback to let other people know that he's a timewaster :(

That's been the case for a long time now. In fact, probably a good two if not three years. Not having the ability to leave genuinely bad sellers negative feedback is new. eBay gets worse and worse by the day. Im still chasing £250 they owe me, 14 months and still arguing!
