EBAY noob questions

I've bought 100s of items off EBAY but never sold anything and I want to get rid of some toys.

1 - How much does EBAY take off you?
2 - Can you have both a BUY IT NOW and RESERVE NOT MET for the same item?
3 - If you don't sell it do EBAY still take money off you?

I'm sure theres more but I can't think yet.

1). Lots, all depends on the cost of the final bid.

read Ebays FAQs ,they will tell you exactly what you need to know

They charge listing fees regradless of wether your items sells.

Relisting is not free

I think certain items are. I've in the past re-listed items for free. Though that might just fall under certain catagories.

If you relist the item, you just don't get charged for the second time as long as it sells. You will however get charged for the initial listing.

If I sell an item for £250 how much do EBAY get approx?

7.5%of the initial £29.99 (£2.25), plus 4.5%of the remaining balance of the final selling price

So £12.15 if my maths is right. Depending at what value you start it at the listing fee can be as high as £1.90 on top of that.

I feel so thick -

So lets say I start the item at £200, put a reserve of £250 on it and a Buy It Now of £280 what would that cost?

then add Paypal fees ontop of the full amount you recieve before Ebay takes a cut

Used to be:

They charge the listing fee regardless, but give you a second listing, which is free is it sells, or charged again if it does not.

Now is:

No sell, no listing fee.

the paypal charge is a horrible scam. they charge you a % of the entire amount, even though ebay instantly takes a chunk of the money themselves (and they own both ends of the company)

Why do you think Ebay bought Paypal?

At the end of the day they're a business - they're there to make money.
