ok, so, i bid for and won an auction for the Alien Quadrilogy just a few days ago and got the items today but it was not the 9 dvd set in the auction, it was the 4 individual dvd movies - not happy.
I've emailed the seller to ask for a refund but i'm wondering if anyone has experience with this sort of thing.
Does he (or will he) have to refund the postage i paid as well?
I can't start a dispute until 10 days after the auction (next week) so i'm wondering how the process works?

hopefully it will all be sorted out quickly - i'm just annoyed as i've never had to do this sort of thing before.

thats what the auction should have been for - but its not that actual auction of course, i've already won and recieved my (wrong) items.

cheers - i've emailed him and i'll ask him for the postage back as well when he replys.

i'm sure i'll get it sorted, but its just a hassle - i wish people would be more careful :(

ironically, i've just fouind it is really cheap from the hmv website, especially as you can get a £3 voucher by signing up - so it will end up cheaper than any of those ebay auctions :p

Right, according to the EAN no. (as per the description in the item listing of the auction you won), it should have been the 9 disc edition:

http://www.upcdatabase.com/item.asp?upc=5039036014823

So yes, well within your right to complain and ask for a refund.

thats useful thanks - i just got an email of him basically saying 'so you didn't get the box but it is a quadrilogy cos its 4 films, whats the problem?' sort of thing, so i've emailed back with this and other info - like the auction says NINE dvd's in a box set

yeah i paid by paypal so it won't be a problem if he decides to arse me about.

he seems to be claiming that he inputed the bar code (or something) and that ebay handled the layout and that it wasn't his fault the description was wrong, and then asked me if i thought ebay would pay him his fee's back etc - i said he should contact them but i still want my money back but he then asked me if i could wait until he has contacted ebay - i agreed - i'll give him a week - i can't actually put a claim against him until the 24th anyway (has to be 10 days after the auction).

its strange though - his emails are pretty poor english and he sounds like a kid, but there are some sophisticated items in his shop.

i haven't made a claim through paypal before but i hear that they are pretty good.

Load of ol' tosh if you ask me. It's his responsibility to ensure the item description is correct, either he's stoopid or incredibly lazy and didn't once check over the seven days the item was listed for to see the description was incorrect.

it does sound dodgy - but as i said i can't make a claim/complaint to ebay/paypal until 10 days after the auction has passed (24th) so hey, i'll give him the benefit of the doubt for now - but come the 24th if it isn't sorted then its no mercy time and i'll set the paypal dogs on him ;)

anybody know how the paypal claim system works, just so i know beforehand?? cheers.

unbelievable! - i was going to buy the quadrilogy from the hmv website yesterday for £17.99 but there was a promotion i saw which gives you a £3 voucher so i did that and waited for the email.
I got the email today and its only £3 off if you spend over £25 - bugger.
So went into town and the boxset was £24.99 in hmv and virgin.
So i came back, went on the hmv website and now the boxset isn't £17.99 anymore, its £69.99!!!

life isn't fair :(

Ok £6, great boxset thought.

powerplaydirect.com have it for £17.99

good call, thanks.
i have another ebay auction i'm winning at the mo (i never learn :p ), but if i lose that i'll get it from powerplay.

ok, i still haven't got my money back and i keep getting fobbed off despite repeated requests.

i've given him/her until the weekend to give me a refund - what are my options?
negative feedback and a paypal claim - but its only £17 anyway so will the claim be useless?

unbelievable!
after starting a claim on paypal he is now claiming he sent me the 9 dvd's!
So i escalated to a claim and paypal tell me i will have to pay a $25 fee if i win, despite the fact that i emailed paypal yesterday and they said i would not have to pay anything.

so what are my options?? is it better to just cancel the claim (for £17.10) and resell the items myself to get some money back? it kind of makes the paypal protection useless for cheap items.

Leave him negative feedback and claim through PayPal, it's the principle that counts here... you paid for a 9 DVD box-set and received 4x DVD's. The item was clearly not as described. How far does he live away from you, near enough to travel? Can you get his telephone number and call him?

But seriously, leave neg feedback for him and just put:

"Auction was for 9 DVD alien quadrilogy, seller sent me 4x DVD seperates. Item NOT as described and offered no apology or refund. Bad seller."

yeah but if i have to pay the $25 and also send back the dvd's - i seem to lose.

Don't worry, he's getting negative feedback definitely.

ok, well i've already submitted the paypal claim but i've sent them an email aswell to confirm if i have to have the $25 fee.

i guess i'll wait a couple of days - i think i will end up cancelling the claim, giving neg feedback and reselling the dvd's myself. :(

havent read all the thread but

'This nine DVD boxset contains all 4 films '

doesnt say nine disks and he only mentions 4 films in the description

ermm, isn't the 'nine dvd boxset' a clue to how many disc's he is claiming.

well, i got an email back from paypal and yes, a fee of £15 will be taken off if i win the claim (which is only £17.10) so pretty pointless, as i assume i will still have to send the dvd's back to the seller anyway.

i've cancelled the claim and left him negative feedback - scumbag.

Aghhh you should have a waited a bit (2 days) before leaving negative... he might have decided to give a refund due to well worded email from a zero bidders account (cough) . Now his hackles will be up and he'll likely neg you back... :(

damn, oh well - i expected him to leave me neg feedback back - he sounds like that sort of person, but i couldn't let him (or her) get away with it.
Unfortunately the single dvd's are not going for much on ebay so i will take a hit.
