eBay problem (sorry)

Right, so I bought an item and needed to return it because I found it cheaper elsewhere. Returns of any reason were accepted so nothing wrong there. I sent the item on the 4th with tracking, but the seller wasn't in when it was delivered on the 6th. Royal Mail left a card asking him to pick the item up but he has still not been in to collect it almost 10 days later. He is not responding to messages either.

What am I supposed to do here? There doesn't appear to be anything on the returns page I can click to escalate it further. It's just stuck on 'item dispatched/in transit'. How long can a seller successfully avoid giving me my money back?

You could request his contact details from eBay. That should include a phone number, might be able to get hold of him then.

I didn't stick a return address on it. Oops.

It was £100 and I found it elsewhere for around £40.
