Hi all, sold this guy something on ebay, i sent it 1st class recorded, i sent it on the 7th feb, and hes emailed me the other day saying he has not recived it, i told him to wait until next friday and if it still has not come i will goto the post office with my recorded del slip and find out whats happening. the chances are its been lost in the post, but nows hes saying he wants a refund, and if the cpu ever shows up he will send it back.

Im kinda getting a slight hint of a scammer here, what i thinks happened is the postman has delivered the item but nobody was in and insted of bothering taking the parcel back to the depot and writing a slip he cant be bothered so just posted it without a signature. (my uncles had this happen before). And i think now hes thought i cann pretend i never got it and try to get my money back or something. I could be totally wrong but either way how do i resolve this problem?

what can the post office do when i take the recorded del receipt back??

Thanks!!

Well if it was recorded delivery, you should be able to track it online, dunno to what extent, but it will tell you whether he's got it or not.

it was normal recorded not special delivery. and the tracking number says its not available because it has not been signed by the receiver?? wtf??

In which case, surely you can get the Royal Fai to cough up - doesn't recorded delivery give you at least a little bit of compensation?

EDIT - just found this on the RM site:
7. Am I entitled to compensation with Recorded Signed For?

You can claim compensation of £30 for lost or damaged items except for loss of jewellery or money. If you need to send valuable items like jewellery or money, use our Special Delivery 9.00am service or Special Delivery Next Day service. You can also claim for delayed items through our Customer Services section.

Not a great deal of compo but better than nothing if the item doesn't turn up?

you have to stomach the 7 quid... if it was worth more then £30 you should have insured it higher.

tell him you have to wait 15 days, to report it to RM, then you will give him the £37 refund.

you then refund him £37, contact RM after the 15 days and get the £30 back.
