Hey guys,

So I just sold a coat using the eBay option to send to their HQ for international delivery - they will deal with the item from there. However, I'm a tad confused.

Here is the item in question which has been paid for:

According to eBay, he is from United States and has 100% 11 feedback.

I just went to PayPal expecting there to be an Ebay HQ address of some sort for them to send from there to the United States but the address is in London. I'm not sure if it's against the rules to post someones address but please see below:

INSERT NAME
Flat NUMBER REMOVED FOR PRIVACY ,duckman tower, 3 lincoln plaza
LONDON
London
E14 9BL
United Kingdom
[email protected]

Can someone clarify why eBay says he is from the United States yet the address is UK?

at the top of his "feedback left for others" it looks like someone else had your concern so simply didnt send it to him

he could be using forwarder, not uncommon when buying stuff abroad online.
also the country mentioned in profile page could be that of first registration. Even if you move to say UK, it will still say registered from year XY in the United States.

Is that paypal address confirmed?

tbh if it involves foreign country and looks bit dodgy, I'd just cancel sale and refund. worst can happen is negative feedback. still better than losing money.

Could you please clarify how I check if his Paypal address is confirmed? I can confirm it's the same as his eBay address when you click print postage label.

log into your paypal and go to the transaction in paypal, it'll have his address and stuff from the sale in there and it'll tell you if your eligible for seller protection or not. If it says no eligible for seller protection steer clear and just cancel the order on ebay.

Looks like we are good.

To be fair, he does look clean. But you can see why I'm suspicious. I've asked him to confirm why his account says he lives in the States. The logical answer is that that is A) How he registered his account or B) Previously lived there or C) Both.

His response is as below:

hi there. I was register on USA ebay,
But, in fact, I live in London. So there's no problem

I'm going to go with my gut and trust him on this one. I'll message him saying that this has raised my suspicions and his relatively low feedback doesn't satisfy me completely. However, I will trust you and send the jacket along with the tracking number once sent. Please do not betray this trust.

He is 100% chinese. His name is Chinese. This doesn't really worry me though as he's surely just Chinese and living in London.

it's up to you then. he might be genuine in the end.
if you decide to send, you know the drill.

I don't, could you please elaborate? Do you mean just be sure to send signed for and take photos etc?

If he screws me, I'll go to his London address provided and knock on his door. That's the address where he would take delivery of the coat so if he wants to go down that road, he can.

Have left it like this:

Me:

To be completely honest with you, this (his account being from the US) raised my suspicions along with your relatively low feedback. However, I will trust you and send the jacket along with the tracking number once sent tomorrow. Please do not betray this trust.

Him:

sure, I just bought a jacket on ebay a month ago. You can see my feedback. Hope to get the coat soon, thanks

Going with my gut and posting it.

This is why I don't sell on Ebay, if it was me if the product is worth more than you want to lose stop before it's too late. I feel like some alarm bells are ringing.
