I'm currently selling camera lens on ebay at the moment. In the listing I stated that people with less then 3+ feedback should email me when bidding. So of course a brand new 0 feedback guy bids on the camera lens, i give it a day and after receiving no emails from him i send an email asking to confirm that he is going to buy the lens should he win, also gave the option that if he had changed his mind to just tell me and i'll cancel the bid and no harm done.

I still didnt hear anything so I cancelled the bid this morning. Then this afternoon I get the following email:-

Subject: Re: sigma 24-70mm f2.8. I intend to buy your lens if I win the bidding. I´m from Brazil like you see in the e-bay and need to buy a lens from a private seller because we have many tax here if we buy from a shop. I know I´m new in e-bay but you can see my buyer qualification on this adress www.meXXXXXlivre.com.br, fxxXXX10. It´s a similar site in Brazil. What a surprise!!!! This morning I see that you cancelate your bidding. What hapen?? Best Regards

So what would you do, let him bid or stay clear? Is there any method of gauranteed payment from Brazil? I suppose paypal is the only way and i'm worried that there would be a claim back of the money as soon as I post. Which method of proof of postage does paypal accept. When posting in the UK I only use RMSD and have never had a problem.

I'm thinking its not worth the hassel of letting him bid, but at the same time its a little harsh that its only because he's living far away.....

tbh i would just leave it, not really worth the hassle, let him buy it from someone else

Thats what i was thinking. I imagined that if he won i'd soon get the email, i had some businesses in england which i have sold now, i am expecting a cheque for £6000 which i will have sent to you. Please keep a £1000 for your troubles and send the change to me with the lens.

But i was thinking of sending him an email saying that i will accept paypal only as payment. Still I cant help but think i will only end up relisting if i let him bid....

Blocked he is then! Cheers everyone.

RM have a delivery option called "International Signed For", which is pretty much equivalent to the domestic Recorded Delivery service.
You will have to check RMs' website for the level of insurance given though, as I can't remember it off the top of my head.

He said "cancelate". On that basis alone he isn't worth the trouble. :p

(That's like the millionth time I've used the laughing smiley today, must be in a good mood, makes a change I suppose)

theres an option to stop people without x bids or xdays registered bidding. Use it next time stop stuff like this happening. Ignore the bloke, esp for stuff that costs a lot u want people with good rep & not in crappy countries :P

I think i found the option you are talking about, but it only blocks buyers with neg feedback. I did find the option that stops people without a credit card on file from bidding so I'm pretty sure that'll take care of him.

Thinking about it now I dont know why I even paused to ask, im blatently never going to get any money from him and just going to end up relisting!
