So I've used eBay and Royal Mail for years, never had a package not turn up. eBay now collect 5% GST for Jersey government on every item bought on eBay. It seems to be since this was introduced I've had problems.

Case in point ordered a baseball cap from Germany on eBay, sent via Deutsche Post, effectively Germanys Royal Mail. It never turned up, got a refund. Then a few weeks ago I ordered a screen protector for Apple Watch on eBay sent via Royal Mail, it never turned up got a refund.

Lastly ordered a HDMI 2.1 cable not via eBay, sent via Royal Mail 2nd class on Monday this week, its not showed up yet. I am convinced all these sellers did send the item and its not their fault they never arrived.

So I shall wait a few more days for this HDMI 2.1 cable then if doesn't arrive consider using Amazon or Fulfilled by Amazon only in future. Its a pain as you have to order over £35 worth of stuff for free delivery which is where eBay comes in handy and I don't want Prime.

There's a big thing going on now called Christmas. Apparently this can really jam up the system. I think it's just a modern fad tho.

And before that it was covid..

However

Ofcom has issued Royal Mail with a fine of £5.6m after failing to reach its delivery targets in the 2022/23 financial year.

And then

Royal Mail failed to meet its first- and second-class delivery targets in the 2023/24 financial year.

Don't see them improving lol

Yeah maybe the HDMI 2.1 cable will arrive, it’s still within the realms of possibility. But with those other two items not arriving a few months ago I’m losing confidence.

I'm still waiting on my exhaust from a reputable company!!

Ordered 21st NOV

5-14 lead time

Still nothing

I've also got an eBay / Parcelforce package that's been sitting in my local depot for over a week as they can't be bothered to deliver it

I still believe Royal mail is the best courier to use.
Their small/medium parcel service is great price especially with the included insurance

Using anyone else would cost me a lot more. More time too

Statistically this time period is when most missing parcels & stolen item are reported to RM.

It's also the time where they hire lots of temp workers, some with criminal records for theft...

I sell a bunch on eBay.

Had a good one yesterday... RM somehow managed to deliver a package (rural) to a house about 1 mile away from the target address, it was just luck they also knew the customer and texted them.

I've had about 3 go missing in the last week alone (posted any time from the end of November though - customers have just informed me).

The main thing that's doing my head in though, has been going on for at least the last 2 - 3 months, is the 2nd class mail taking 7 days to arrive in some destinations, that's starting to do my head in because customers shouldn't be waiting that long. I've sent replacements by first class in some instances where the replacement then arrives next day... along with the original 2nd class posted item which has taken over a week to get there.

Oh and lets actually add to that list at least 50% of the time they don't bother to scan delivery confirmation on large letter size post.
