Today I fell victim to a scam on ebay, I was selling a brnad new Samsung D500 and the auction was going fine until about 4 seconds from the end a bid was placed from a brand new account. Shortly afterwards I recieved this email

hello,
i am so happy when i won your auction, i am so commited to buy it for my fiance who had went for an industrial research in africa/nigeria,as asurprice birthday gift, i guess this works well and will be ok to his taste. i want this item to be shipped directly to him asap. when i contact royal mail 1st class service its about 22/25gbp to ship to africa but i am paying the amount of 30gbp for the postage in order to quicken the transaction.I will contact paypal ASAP,as soon as possible for your money and i wll also send you my fiance address in africa.

My sale clearly stated that this was Europe only and I even set a block to stop people not meeting the Europe parameter from bidding but by setting the account as being in the Netherlands they got around it.

Lets just hope somone takes up my second chance offers else I will have to relist and wait another week :o

I have seen this mentioned in another couple of threads in this forum and the emails were pretty much the same...... swines!!!

 Not a happy bunny!!!

tbh contact Ebay support, report the scammer, point out that you did set it to EUROPE only.

Meh,, Another reason why I've lost all trust with ebay. Hope the second chance offer goes well for you. Sorry you had a scammer try and trick you. At least you didn't fall for it.

ebay has been okay to me tbh I never buy anyhting over £50 and am carful of who i sell to although idiots that bid and dont pay absolutley boil my blood¬!£!11111!!!

seriously though, if i see another ebay scam thread im going to cry. can you people not think for yourselves?!

and dont even think about the "if you dont like it, dont look" posts because im not interested

Yep, it’s starting to get a little repetitive with all the ebay scams going at the moment. If nothing else, this is now warning others that ebay is a dangerous ground for the easy..

Not to say anyone on here is easy to fool like this..

Correction for the OP - you have been targetted by a likely scammer.

You have not fallen victim to a scam, unless you decide to go ahead with the transaction.

It's not just ebay that suffers from this - It happens in the physical world too.
