Ebay Selling- This doesn't feel right

I put an old digital camera on eBay I found in the cupboard expecting to maybe get £20 or £30 for it. But it's been bid up to £160 now with a number of days left to run. All the accounts bidding on it have very low feedback and a similarly formatted username. Do you think something suspicious is going on? There is another one of these for sale at the moment and it looks like a similar thing is happening.

I thought there was a resurgence/nostalgia in older digital cameras - people have realised the small lenses on mobile phones aren't all that...

but maybe a scam where they receive it and say it doesn't work , let's come to an agreement, or, they return another.

I would put it as a buy it now if you can for £30 and wait. It will probably not be the scammers worthwhile doing that.

Exactly this. There's been a massive interest (due to tiktok) for fuji cameras for their film simulations. As a result older digital camera bodies are sought after for the vintage/older look of the images and compact size.

A camera I've owned for years has gone up in price by 60%.

All down to stupid tik tok, my daughter bought one a week or so ago.

I've been hunting out all my old digi cameras, the prices are increasing daily at the moment.

But have you seen the example he's selling? It's not in good condition.

I would be cancelling that and relisting it as a buy it now for a sensible price. It's about time Ebay gave us free reign when it comes to blocking users with low feedback.

Not sure i follow?

Presumably the scam can only be to get the camera for free after fraudulently claiming a refund. How does spending more money in the first place make it better for the scammer?

There's a resurgence of older digital cameras for another feature - a viewfinder. If taking a photo in bright sunshine, you can't see the display. Had a quick look on ebay for my camera and some come from Ukraine.

Use my camera when on holiday. Didn't use it on my last holiday as the back up button battery (for saving the time stamp) went and saw the battery on sale for €10 where can buy 8 for the same price online.

Don't sell things on eBay.

You're welcome :)
Best advice. eBay has gone so downhill, it's so bad right now.

Sold a mobile last year and literally within minutes I get a message from the winner saying they changed their mind and want to cancel, was so annoying, just ended up keeping it.

This year I thought let me give them another chance.. sold a different phone.. 2 weeks after the buyer received it, he messaged me saying I never told them I had removed the back and replaced the battery as there is a big space between the back and front.. and wanted money back... off course it's all complete BS. Fortunately the delivery address was about 10 mins from where I live so I politely warned him I don't appreciate trying to be scammed and will come and 'talk' face to face if he wants to continue. He soon stopped :)

Won't be going through this a 3rd time as I just closed my account after that, pointless selling on eBay anymore. Will rather get less money at CEX or Gumtree but also less hassle.

They won't because it harms new users ability to use the platform, thus losing them money.

My idea where new users under say 10 are limited to amounts of say £50 would work better.

why don't you post to Scottish Highlands? For something that size Royal Mail is probably quicker and more reliable than most of the couriers. Cost shouldn't be an issue either as buyer will pay what you set.

100% but it's only £30. He should put it on Facebook Marketplace or something similar cash on collection.
