eBay Selling

Ahh, that makes sense

Still the buyer only had to say the item wasn't as described and they would have automatically sided with the buyer, buyer doesn't have to prove anything.

Or say it was faulty which he didn't.

He basically bought an ADSL+2 modem which he thought would work with VDSL...

Sorry but I just have to say lol.. someone buying a second hand ADSL modem on eBay thinking it would work with VDSL and then trying to scam you is the storyline to worst ever episode of *insert crime drama here* :)

Buyer was a professional, apparently, and knew what he was purchasing..

I've been selling on Ebay since 2003 so I've got a rough idea on how to sell properly giving honest description, plenty of pictures and information on the product to help the buyer but....you can't educate some people.

This was the heading to give you an idea of the product: DrayTek Vigor 120 ADSL2+ Ethernet Modem V2 *SEALED* NO RESERVE

Confusing isn't it! :p

Well here's an irony.. I haven't sold anything for ages but moving house last week I sold a jumper.. obviously posted first class or it wouldn't have made any financial sense.. I figured don't just throw it out.

Just had a claim opened against me for non delivery and obviously I can't prove it's been received... I can prove its been posted.

Lets take a guess how this is going to end...

When you become a billionaire, buy eBay and burn it to the ground?

:D

Well the guys been and picked the RAM up, just left with the server, xeon and heatpipe now

Won't end well, unfortunately. The system is a joke and has been for a while now :-(

Won't find me selling on there anymore...

Occasionally use Gumtree now.

The whole thing is some weird analogy for something.. carharrt jumper I was bought for xmas in large, didn't fit so I spent ages finding a medium which did fit, wore it once then over that summer lost more weight so the medium was also too big.. stored it for 2 years and then thought it's too good to throw away so sell it.

Ended up with the hassle of going to the post office to pay to be scammed so basically I've worn a jumper once and paid someone to steal it from me lol.

Well I've had a message from eBay stating that the guy that won the server might have been dodgy as he is no longer a user on eBay..
Typical..
Is it wrong that I have such a lack of faith in humanity that it wouldn't surprise me if it was someone that'd seen this thread and then signed up for the specific point of being a dick...

No it's paranoia

You'll end up refunding him and because you have proof of postage, you make a claim against the post office. You shouldn't end up out of pocket at all here.

Never had a problem with the stuff I've sold, though had a few returns of stuff sold but I've never been scammed.

Had a few probelms with stuff bought but again never been scammed.
