So the ECB have appointed Andy Flower's successor as head coach of England's mens team by appointing his predecessor Peter Moores.

It's a new era with a new (old) coach and no more KP. Trott has probably played his last game for England with the recurrence of his stress issue so players like Bell, Prior and Broad will have to stand up and take more responsibility for scoring runs. We've still to find Cook an opening partner because it looks like Joe Root will be best suited to batting at 4 or 5 and not opening. I can't see Michael Carberry opening as he isn't good enough plus he'll be 34 in September so hasn't exactly got time on his side.

On the sponsor front, Brit have gone to be replaced with Waitrose. I think the new Test shirt looks weird with the Waitrose logo but hey ho.

So what do other OcUK cricket fans think about Moores and our new era of rebuilding the team? How long is it before we can win the Ashes again and perhaps challenge for top Test team rankings. What about winning a OD tournament sometime?

I think they really shot themselves in the foot by sacking KP. You can't get rid of your best batsman, find a way to accommodate him in the team.

The team is very weak at the moment. They should beat India though, but that's only because India is a laughing stock away from home at the moment.

Hasn't Paul Downton, the new ECB boss, said that when he went to Adelaide for final Test of the Ashes he was shocked at how disenfranchised KP was from the team and what was going on. I think the ECB have said there's no single issue with KP but lots of minor issues that add up. I don't think the issue is accommodating him in the team in terms of talent or run scoring but more his personality and is he more divisive than he is a uniting player?

Sri Lanka are first up for two Tests and five ODIs. I think they could be a tricky opponent.
