Hey all, just wondering if I will notice much of a difference in performance between the two cases, the Eclipse would have Akasa Ambers in it, and the Lian Li would just be standard, just wondered what kinds of things are different with regards to cooling and such, how loud are they both? things like that from people who used them first hand or whatever. I have read around and looked at reviews, but i'd like to hear what you guys think.
They would have Tagan Modular 530w or 580w in them, I don't think that matters just thought I would say it anyway. :)

The eclipse looks worse due to a plastic front, but cools better.

The Lian Li looks better, and is a bit better value.

Both will be as loud as one another, but the amber fans are far superior to the stock Lian Li ones, so you should consider upgrading to them in both cases.

I read about the plastic front, that don't bother me really, its just the performance differences between the two that do, due to the difference in price.
I personally think the Akasa looks a little better, but thats just my opinion.
What do you use out of intrest? :)

v1000+ for my main rig.

If you think the eclipse looks better and you do not mind the extra money then it is for sure a good bet for you.

Great case whatever way you look at it.

For looks yes, take away the front panel and the quality is neck and neck.

Just the cooling on the Eclipse takes it ahead, and if you dont give a wotsit about the looks then it is better.

Price made irrelevant of course.

PC7 = best value for money, at any price point.

I have an older style PC7 as I mentioned yesterday, its just been loud and anoying, I don't really like how it looks as I am bored of looking at it everyday now, it is a nice case though. However I read about the cooling and size of the Eclipse 62 and its got good reviews from everyone who used it, pretty much anyway.
Money is an issue here, thats the only thing that could to push me to the PC7 in this case.
I don't think the PC7 > 62 at all.
Having to buy extra fans is just more money plus the extra cost of the case, I guess you can't have it all. :)

Reason why the PC7 is good value.

If your PC7 uses the 120mm fans then just transfer them over, but sounds as though its the older 120mm/80mm version.

You could always sell it to fund the fans, I am sure it would :p

The one I got now its 80mm fans I am pretty sure of this. Its got two in the front, one at the back, one at the top and its loud.
I have never sold anything, that is why I always end up out of pocket, but then again I never know were to sell anything, I know of the usuall place people say but anyway, I must sound stupid.

When you reach 250 posts and have been here for 90 days you can get access to the Members Market, which is a great place for selling and buying used gear of other OcUK members.

You just can not spam your way to the 250 posts :p

80mm fans will be loud at stock volts, 120mm fans are noise kings really, as you have to spend a lot on 80mm fans to get acceptable performance.

Sounds good to me mate, I never spam, as I actually really dislike forums, for more then one reason, but these forums seem to be very nice :)

Yeh OcUK generally is free of people out to just prove others wrong, and none of the threads degrade into flame wars.

For such a large board the community is quite closenit and good, whats keeping me around after all these years and my waining interest in hardware.

Members market is an excellent place to buy 2nd hand stuff. I have had 2 Eclipse 62's off there and I paid no more than £50 each, with fans.

Both had genuinely been loved and cared for, and were a credit to their previous keepers.

In reality though, by the time you have bought a new Eclipse, 3 x 120mm Ambers and the Fan ducted side panel, you are looking at almost the same price as a Lian-Li V1000+

I have both and (NEW) I'd buy the Lian-Li. Second hand Eclipses are much cheaper ie. they don't hold their value as well as Lian-Li's.

I thought I only needed to buy two fans?
I don't know now, I really like the Eclipse 62, but my budget is already very stretched with the rest of the system.
May end up having to go with a PC7.
Thing is I also wanted a change from the look of the Lian Li as having this silver one next to me has got boring, my last upgrade was 2003 so I wanted something nice and fresh for my new build.

Not all stock components.

If your budget is stretched you sound like going for the PC7 is a bad thing, I would take one over a Eclipse due to the aluminium front :p

Good point about the change, how about a G50 then?

Is that right what he said though? I would need three fans?
Whats a G50?
Also need to make sure its going to be nice and cool and quiet if possible.
As I am spending about 900 to 1k on my new build, so need something nice for it to go into.

Only 2 fans for the initial case, you need 3 if you buy the extra side panel.

G50 is a new Lian Li case coming out.

Bit of a late reply I know :p
