Hi all,

Contemplating a new home for me bits & bobs :D
trying decide between the TJ06 or the Eclipse 62.

Main criteria are space for at least 6 hdd's and the rest is the usual stuff.
I like the upside down idea of the TJ06 and hdd placement quite a lot but also like the Eclipse cos it's ally and light and the button positions are just right for convenience, now i know it comes apart quite well but does anyone know if it would be possible to mount the mobo tray on the other side so its as the TJ06?

Who's done it?

TIA

Dont think you can mount it upside down on the Eclipse. Mainly because the motherboard and the back plate are all one piece.
Great case tho'

I would take the Eclipse out of thoose two as it is better value for money in my opinion.

However they are both very good cases; ultimately with thoose two its your own personal preference to which one you buy.

You will be happy with either one of them.

(To note aswell; the alternative motherboard positioning does not make a awful lot of difference, just isolates the Graphics Card heat, resulting in slightly lower temps on the CPU, but it is such a small benefit that the Eclipse can compensate for this by offering a better 'flow' of air through the case)

you wont be dissapointed with the eclipse, its a real well made case and has loads of room, exellent for cable management. The hdd are situated right infront of a 120mm fan so that they are cooled, the hdd cage even has an angled piece of aluminium to direct the flow over the hdd's. It'll be the easiest case youve worked in with all the removable panels and ample space. Its very light yet solid as a rock. Due to the wideness of the case im going to fit an Aerocool 140mm fan at the rear, im acctually planning how to do it now.

Yes, yes you do. ;)

This thread needs some pics of peoples Eclipses.

Also I have some reviews up on the user reviews of www.yewen.co.uk if you are interested in seeing some opinions in more depth.

You all got shares in Akasa ? :p

I do like it, all except 1 bit, the dodgy placement of the 2 hdd's above
the cpu cooler, Is there much clearance ??
Thats the main reason for eyeing up the TJ06, keeps the drives and cabling all in one area, sata's are easy but ide's are a pain having to mount em where the cable will reach 2. have 3 of each atm.

decisions decisions......

Well I may as well own Lian Li :p

But I personally do not like them, just the Eclipse is a great case.

Although it is a Savrow case....

me me me!

The Eclipse is the more popular case for sure, and the price for what it is is just right.

However the plastic front always comes back to the front of my mind. It is quite nasty.

Some nice pics guys - thx

They sure have enough space in them.

That plastic front is a bit of a spoiler for great case, plastic on my current battered antec slk vibrates now and then  and have to admit i think i read somewhere a few folk had that with the 62 (Dont shoot me though i may be wrong!)
i hate to throw a spanner in the works though but for hdd wiring
i'm tending to steer towards the TJ06 mostly due to my hdd's
3 ide 3 sata. Kinda feel the 62 would look a bit messy with
having to use the bay above the cpu unless i fit the odd ide in an adaptor in a 5-1/4 under my dvd.

You'd think by now there'd be plenty of "perfect" cases around, i mean they now what we put in them and how horrible the cables look and how short they are sometimes too, The pc has lots of logic why dont case manufacturers? moan over..

If only the TJ was ally :D and the front ports were on t'other side.

PS
Nice site Yewen

Cheers :)

The perfect case will never be, as then why would you buy there newer model!

The Eclipse can resonate yeh, but that is fixable :)

The TJ is not a bad case, but like all the Silverstones it is overpriced slightly. If you can afford to and are willing to pay the little bit more it is indeed a good case.

But for value for money between the two, the Eclipse has to win hands down. But you dont seem to be that bothered so you will buy the nicer looking option ;)

Or just buy a v1000+ and be done with it :D

In all honesty i'm more fussed about where plug in bits go and where things are mounted and how well it all fits together than i am about the looks, but saying that i wouldnt buy one of those asus gaming cases (rather poke my eyes out!) even if everything else was perfect.

So it's more Function than Form that i'm after i guess which brings me nicely into the next bit which has a good bit of both....

Wondered when you were going to plug the LL's :p
Hmm V1100 YES PLEASE! as much space as a small shed! but more than i want to spend unfortunately as i'm already looking at a 20" tft as well

MONITOR! Make do with a 14' green cathode ray monitor!

You know you can justify the V :p

If you do get the silverstone case you wont be dissapointed with it I don't think, as it seems to tick all your layout boxes and you obviously like it a lot!

Most important part of the case, is if you actually like it or not ;)

I recently tested a Silverstone Tj03 and Tj07 alongside an Eclipse, I admit to not having tried a TJ06, but the TJ07 has a similar design, guess which one of the three stayed?!

I'll go further still...in terms of a case that combines ease of use with optimal thermal efficiency, the Eclipse is superior to any other I've worked with. One niggle - apologies if it's been mentioned already - is that it doesn't come with any fans, so it works out at slightly more than the TJ06 should you have to provide these new.

Personally, I'd also opt for the special vented side panel, as it provides a very desirable cooling source for the CPU and video card, watch those temps plummet!

No, though I have heard very good things about them. Like you, I loved the old Coolermaster ATCs - still have a 110b housing my main system.

If I had the choice of one, I'd pick either the 1000 or 2000 over a 1100 or 2100, based on personal experience, I've always found that doors which obscure the front air-intake noticeably impede ventilation, hence I like the idea of having the entire front meshed. I do like Lian Li, would happily opt for them over Silverstone and Coolermaster.

This Eclipse is brilliant though, I concede its not the greatest looking, but I can't believe that anything surpasses its performance or ease of use.

The Lian Li pc7+ comes close ;)

Cheaper and looks better why I consider it the best sub £100 case for the average person without specialist needs.

Good to see you like the ATC cases, true classics and you have one of the better cases :)
