Hi,

I know that there are numerous threads on this forum dedicated to how rubbish Eclipse internet are and how great they once were, but I'd really like to pull all of the information that we can together about what exactly is going on with them right now.

It's especially important at the moment, because from what I understand, there seems to be a widespread connection speed issue that's a lot larger than they're trying to make out.

Looking at the status page in my Eclipse console, it says that the service is slow, and the status on this item is updated once every few days with a generic message saying that they are investigating the problem.

That would be fine, but I've now been billed £29.99 a month for three months of what must be around 56k speeds.

It's only started happening since April(ish), and I've noticed other people have been complaining of similar issues.

Exactly how many are suffering from this? How likely is it really that it's a line problem?

I'm in a 12-month contract with these people after 3 years of happy service when living with my mum. I'm now in my own place regretting doing that. Is there any way you're aware of that I can buy myself out of my contract? I've submitted a support ticket asking the same thing. I'll let you know what they say.

Either way, present day customers / very recent customers, I'd be very pleased to hear what you've got to say about the current state of affairs.

Thanks,

Karl.

Good news!

You can buy yourself out of their twelve month contract for a total fee of £40 - £10 more than I'm paying per month for the most dire service I've ever experienced. I'll take that!

Rightly so.

An upgrade is effectively a downgrade, and I'm pleased to have found out that I can (and have) bought my contract out for the princely sum of £47.50 including VAT - 1 and a half months' hell. Easily quantifiable, done and dusted.

If you're having problems, this is probably the quickest and easiest solution. They'll give you a MAC code faster than they'll solve your connection problems which tells you a lot about their customer management, and I'm now joining Be*.

If you don't hear from me in this thread again (for people searching the forums in the fewch00r), it'll be because Be* have done the job of connecting me to a better connection speed and I'm too busy downloading lots of spangly things to reply. :p
