eclipse, mobo tray and tuniq tower

Yes you must install on the board then put the board in when the tray is in.
It's far better to do this anyway as it will be impossible to install a tuniq tower on to a board thats on a tray anyway as you have to use a backplate.

My suggestion and how I do mine is thus
get some masking tape or cellotape then tape the backplate in place on the back of the board so the holes line up then install the tuniq and tighten the screws etc then remove the tape off the backplate.

Or you will be having to hold the backplate and trying to keep the tuniq in place and not smudge the arctic silver and trying to line up the screws with the backplate and screw them in all at the same time which you can imagine is and would be frustratingly hard unless you have 4 hands.
When you tape the backplate in place you can work with the board and install it with the board laid flat, it's far easier.
