Guys i just installed that kit and am running an i7 950 @ 4.ghz. My idle temps on all cores are between 37C- 41C which are down from air cooling with artic pro cooler which used to be around 45C+.

I removed the stock thermal compound and applied artic silver 5 and re-seated the water block again.

When i run prime 95 the temperatures rocket to 75+ on all cores. is this normal?

edit: do i have to change settings in bios as well? Because the cpu cooler is connected to chasis fan point and the big 120mm rad/fan is connected to cpu point as suggested in the instructions.

Also, is there something i need to do to activate the liquid cooling on it or its already done. water cooling noob here =)

I would have thought that if the block and everything was fitted properly then it should be ok,
Even without giving the Artic silver 5 time to cure i would have though you wouldnt get temps
of 75+.

If i was you i would check it all again make sure everything is connected properly and check
its all working right.

Right. I have checked the fan seems to be running fine. Only thing left is to lift the cpu block and see if thermal compound is evenly distributed over cpu or not. If i look at the backplate i can see that all 4 screws from cpu block are showing equally.

I just ran prime 95 again and within a minute temps were at 80C. Too high. even on air i never got to 80c this fast.

Not sure whats going on here.

Any suggestion guys?

One thing i wanted to point out.

When i said that temps are 75+ i meant the core temps. I used CoreTemp to check them but when i use speedfan the CPU temp reads 25C on idle but core temps are same as the one reported by CoreTemp.

Do i have to be worried about core temps or just cpu temp?

Thanks.

I have a 200mm in a cooler master h22 case blowing air outwards and a 120mm fan blowing out from the front as well.

The eco rad has a 120mm fan which is also blowing air out. I guess i can change the 200mm fan blowing air inwards?

Must say my Arctice pro cooler was far better under load temps. That begs the question as to why i changed it in the first place:(

quick tip, turn the fan around so its sucking air in from outside the case on the coolit radiator, will drop your load temps by around 10 degrees, installed one of these in a pc a short while ago and that was the best way to do it, make sure you have some case airflow tho obviously, his left mine running an i7 920 at 4.2ghz nicely with temps around 70-75deg full load.

fullnily enough he had an artic cooler on before and it was massively inferior to the eco kit :)

sorry justread your last post, id have the front 120mm sucking air in and the 200mm roof fan blowing out the top, will take all the hot air out the case quickly if you turn the fan around on the coolit eco.

thanks just gonna do that now, changing front fan on rad to blwo air in.

I also just a vid on youtube about a possible second 120mm fan on rad. Not sure which way would be better. plenty of 120mm fans lying around .
