Hi all,

Do any of you know much about monitors from a power useage angle? I am keen to get some data on how much wattage various units draw from the mains?

Any big monitor manufacturers pimping Green features?

Any news or info about certain displays being Lead-Free?

I fully expect this post to bomb as its appears a lot of folk maybe more concerned with other details but any insights or replies re Green Displays would be greatly appreciated! :)

Lead-free is what RoHS is all about, and products sold in the EU have to comply with it. It's likely that the majority of stuff you buy is lead-free now, but there will still be mercury in the backlights.

What is RoHS?

The RoHS Directive stands for "the restriction of the use of certain hazardous substances in electrical and electronic equipment". This Directive bans the placing on the EU market of new electrical and electronic equipment containing more than agreed levels of lead, cadmium, mercury, hexavalent chromium, polybrominated biphenyl (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ether (PBDE) flame retardants.

Thanks for that Caged!
