Hi,

What are the best packages ecommerce on the market? paid and opensource?

And which is easiest to create templates for to style?

I tried Zencart many moons ago but the documentation was rubbish and seemed impossible to style well without knowing every detail of the software!

You can try prestashop.com or opencart even magento is good.

We're considering all avenues for them at the moment, but main concern is the cost of doing it as with all start-ups

Like CS-Cart very much. I trust a professional build more - but that's probably just me. Nice script. Needs a reasonable server to run on.

Magento community edition is pretty good.
