reason im asking is i have been asked to build a computer for my friend for as cheap as possible... all i need is the CPU, MOBO and HDD... as i have RAM and PSU they can have... and the rest i will take from their old machine... (AGP gfx, dvd drive etc)

I am going for a 939 system as they are cheap... but am having trouble finding a good mobo that has AGP for cheap... but have come across on elsewhere made by ECS...

ECS anygood?

thanks in advance :)

Not had any problems with them, 'cos I avoid buying them :) Had a huge problem with PC Chips motherboards (many of them) a few years ago, and since then I stay away from cheap boards.

Not sure how helpful that was, but you need to ask, will you want to potentially repair the computer again soon?

The motherboard is not a place to cut costs, and I wouldn't consider buying an ECS board.

I've found ASUS to be consistently the best quality boards, but if you're looking for a cheaper alternative, consider MSI / Gigabyte / Biostar / Foxconn. Might be easier said than done, though; stocks of 939 boards are running down at most retailers.
