dads mates just got a dyno, says we can use it for free whenever we want so im looking at remapping a polo that my mate has and is about to scrap anyway (with scrappage scheme lol) anyone no any forums related to this and the software witch is used (we have the appropriate cable)

thanks

Unless its a turbo, it won't make a noticeable difference.

It will be noticeable. Plus 10% bhp and a lot more torque at say 2,000 rpm is going to be noticeable. Just not very cost effective in terms of bhp per £spent, and not a huge improvement in overall performance. Would make more sense to chop the car and buy the next engine model up.

hes scrappage schemeing it in like a month so ...

also why do people keep telling me things that i didnt ask to know lolol.

Well if it is free then do it for a laugh! Will be a good educational tool. Just remember to make a backup of the original tune.

Pointless exercise really but worth it for the experience if nothing else I guess.

Err only forum I know dedicated to remapping is ECUTek forum but it's no use to you as they don't cover VW models :D

Remap made a difference to my M3 but only after other modifications. Should be able to find mapping software online

Arent you the kid who wants to be a pilot - if you're so smart (and your answers on this forum are certainly cocky enough) then work it out yourself.

Personally i think youre wasting your time and need to bear in mind that remapping software and the maps arent free for a reason, people develop them at great time and expense so finding them free is unlikely.

Normally your posts are pretty good, but when was the last time AFR, Ignition Timing and all sorts of other things were in the entrance exam to being a pilot?

If you have it for free then sounds like a great bit of fun, I'm currently trying to persuade NickXX that we should try and ITB his 318 and map it ourselves, would be great fun to do and yeah, so what if we only made 5-10 bhp, it would be a great learning experience.

Had Bluefin on my ST170, made 171BHP if you wanna know what the professionals can do :p

Peak, which is about what, 3-4 bhp up on standard, how was the torque band affected, what was the BHP changes in the middle of the range, did it clear any flat spots.... As/if/when I tune my S2k I wont get much up top, but you can get decent gains in the midrange which make it worthwhile.

Remap on the 172 improved it no end, smoothed out the 5k kick, increased BHP [lots of other mods though] rev limit now upto 7850 rpm and just a much better car to drive.

What sort of dyno is it, inertia or brake?

No did not have it tested before. This was on a hotish day too with another FFOC'er, with a K&N Typhoon fitted. Mine was one of the last made before the new MK2 Focus was released and on the latest software.
