Eczema, how I hate thee!

tried many different creams, even African sausage tree cream,

I do hear it's good for the skin.

EDIT: I'm having the same problems atm on the back of my hands, up my arms and around my neck. It's the humidity that triggers it as I was in New York 3 weeks ago and it was hooter there but not as humid and I had no issues.

Hi, I have used diprobase lots before and it is particularly good when bandaged and replenished every day or two. It had it bad on my legs in my early teens. I used to get exzema all over my face, body, arms, basically everywhere.

Now I only get it between my fingers, arms, and around my kneck. I use a range of creams/moisturiser type creams. Aquamol is a new good one, so is balneum plus which is anti itch cream, and QV.
Weleda calendolon ointment work brilliantly and are light, but cost a bit :(

I try and stay off the steriod creams as much as I can, but when it flares up bad sometimes (unfortunately I itch in my sleep, without realising :( , then one i've found that is strong and works is betnovate ointment which wipes it out fast in a day or two max.

I get a flareup sometimes in this weather. I think it might be linked to hayfever in some way. I have only had it bad enough to warrant using steroid cream once in the last 20 years or so. I just bought the over the counter stuff rather than going to my GP though.

I use Ungentum M every day and it's a massive PITA slapping it on after every shower. it's the only thing that keeps it at bay tho. E45 does nothing!

Got it on both arms, from inner elbow bit to my wrists. The sun does wonders for clearing mine up but if i get too hot and sweat then it itches like hell.
All of my friends know about it so I don't cover it up and they stop me scratching if I don't notice I'm doing it.
I use Aqueous cream several times a day, its routine now so it doesn't bother me! Wish it was gone though as it's stopping me working out, due to sweat.

Quite timely for this thread to turn up as I have been suffering with eczema since the end of last year.

It started on my cheeks, brought about by stress, and it seems to be affecting my arms now. The doctor prescribed steroid creams, Hydromol and E45 for use when at work as it's easier to blend into the skin/less greasy.

If I stop using the steroid cream it will flare up on my face with bright red patches within a few days, it looks like I've been slapped! The hydromol seems to do little and actually make me feel a bit itchy as it's so greasy, I think another trip to the doctors will be on the cards.

I've never suffered from eczema in my life until 7 months or so ago.

I have been suffering from blepharitis and seborheic dermatitis for a couple of years now , really hate it! But now I have started to get red flaky itchy patches on my forehead ! Is this eczema or SD ?

I have treated it with canestan ,coconut oil, zinc cream but nothing completely removes the raised plaques ? I was told to see a allergist as most forms of dermatitis are internally caused by immune, gut problems, allergies to dairy, gluten, dust mites, soaps, washing powder etc,.

Trouble is I couldn't imagine not eating bread, crunchy nut cornflakes:D

Dr just gave me a very potent steroid called betnovate but I'm afraid to use it

pompholyx eczema sufferer here. on both hands and both feet. its the bain of summer for me as thats usually when it rears its ugly head.

no cure for it unfortunately, and we are unsure what causes it. :( basically you get little pus filled blisters all over your hand and feet area.

My magic lotion is called Dovobet and works a treat.
I have patches on my scalp, in my ears, a couple on my chest and both knees but Dovobet gets rid of it.
Last week an ex woman colleague showed me the bottom of her leg which was covered (you couldn't see her skin) and she said it is all over, I felt so sorry for her.

Long term Fucibet user here. Only thing I have found effective when it flares up on my knuckles. It often flares if I sleep on feather pillows or touch wool.

Nothing like as bad as some on here - always had a bit when I was younger but it seems to have localized to just behind my ears and a small patch on the left side of my face. Not bad at all and lashings of diprobase and the occasional steroid cream keep it well under control (almost invisible at the moment). The doc was puzzled at how local it was behind my ears - never seen it do that before he said !

My daughter gets it on her scalp and between her fingers and toes, but she's only 2 and doesn't seem bothered by it at the moment.

Medical threads, on my OcUK?

It's more likely than you think!

I have a tiny bit on my head around both ears. Think it comes from wearing headphones a lot and getting sweaty around that section. Washing it seems to agitate it into weeping so I have like a dribble down the back of my ear which I can feel until it dries into more 'flaky skin', which is annoying, but if I don't then it itches like crazy.

Did anyone watch "Fat and nearly dead" the Australian guy who was overweight and had a skin condition he was taking a large amount of Cortisteriods for, he went on a pure juice diet and reduced his steriods slowly untill his skin condition was gone.

He found an American with the same condition and it worked for him.

I don't have Eczema but have Ulcerative Colitis which is another auto-immune condition, his theory is that all the refined sugars / carbs / chemicals in our food kicks off some peoples auto-immune responses allowing the body to attack it self.

It was quite good it seemed to work for him, I might give it a try after my holiday next month, I'm on Azothioprine as well and I don't quite fancy the side effects.

I have Psoriasis, not a nice thing at all. Mainly chest, scalp and face with patches appearing all over my body, especially if i get injured there.

Diet is supposed to help and even with the sun its not been great, been bad for the last 2-3 months now and doesn't seem to be clearing. :(

I started a psoriasis thread a few months ago asking for "alternative methods" of treating but for some reason it was deleted.

The old dear had eczema really bad.

She got a water softner installed and it seemed to help - maybe invest in one of those? The initial outlay was quite a lot, but iirc she rented it monthly.
