That is amazing! Oh labour. You really are a laughing stock.

Yes....but look at the lock in prices on those long term deals.....not saying what labour are proposing is correct or right for the country, but to say because you can get a lock in now, labour aren't offering anything different is wrong.

As a home owner a 1 year lock in seems the best and then shop around (although EDF whom I am with seemed to offer a good deal a few months ago so Im locked in till April 2014 on 2011 prices by extending my lock in)

Are labour saying its a lock in at whatever market price is in 2015, or are they setting a price cap - this wasn't clear in his speech and they are completely different - the former is election bravo meaning nothing as we can all get it now, the latter is a return to price controls and a reduction in the free market.....

Im not going to vote for a political party that offers me some crappy short term bribes no matter who they are.

Need some bloody substance in politics and not terrible narrow view popularity competitions

It's kind of sad that he's going to lose an election against a government which is almost universally despised. That takes some doing. :p

Universally despised? I'm not quite sure you understand how the democratic vote works...

Vote Scottish Power?

A vote for Labour is a vote for nothing. ;)

:D

What, like this you mean?

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-11627261

I have no political leanings either way, Osborne and Miliband are both idiots. I just think this will go on a lot a lot because the media are more interested in distilling politics into 30 second clips.

Edit: it must be said that some politicians are a bit more subtle than the above though!

At least he pulls his phrases around to sort of answer the questions in that one, and also adds a few new sentences here and there. Miliband's was just hilarious in that he ignored each question completely and said exactly the same thing each time, just back to front occasionally!

Though ultimately i agree, they are all mostly weasels.

Just switching to America here for the moment; Whether people agree with Obama's policies or not, at least he is a damn fine statesman and a very VERY good and articulate public speaker. He actually comes across as an intelligent person and it is quite clear that he IS a very intelligent man.

To put Milliband in the same boat as Obama, as a potenital leader of one on the worlds largest economies is frightening in the extreme.

This is the future leader of the United Kingdom, he is doing a good job and is going to rip the Tory scumbags apart at the next election.

Everyone needs to see he is a natural leader of the free world.

Good bless Millibland.

I don't understand how labour think he will get people voting for him

The guts of what he's saying, over and over again, is "Labour is different to the current government".

Many people are having a crap time under the current government, so many people find "different to the current government" an appealing message. Throw in some content-free statements that pretend to be promises (we'll do this, that and the other...but we won't explain how) and it's a winner.

It doesn't have to be true, it just has to be politically useful. People don't really expect truth from politicians who are trying to get (re)elected.
