I quite like Ed Milliband, and hate Mrs Thatcher's policies of the 1980s that did so much damage to Britain's society and reputation. However I don't agree with these T-shirts, whatever else she is a person, a mother, a friend to some. Celebrating when anyone dies is pretty sick so I think Ed has shown very poor judgement posing for that picture.

You could say the same about murderers, rapists and even Hitler, they're all family of someone. People are allowed an opinion although as someone who grew up during the 80s I don't see why people have to take it to such an extreme and why on earth display things like that on a t-shirt? Seems slightly mad to be honest! :p

I do same the same about murderers*, rapists* and even Hitler. However awful their crime I do find it distasteful to see people celebrating the death.

*most.

ALL politicians are oxbridge born and eton bred, its quite disgusting really, public school boys with no idea what real life is like. I doubt david scameron or ed millipede know what its like to be down to your last £20 or similar situations faced by millions of people up and down the country due to benefit cuts and lack of work

Both Eds (Milliband and Balls) went to comprehensive schools. Both got into Oxbridge though (at least Ed got the A-level grades unlike his brother David).

Read post. Read answer. Use grey matter.

You're embarrassing yourself now. You asked "Who worked in the private sector and hated Thatcher?" I replied with "The three million unemployed". It's a funny thing about the unemployed, but back in those days most of them used to have jobs. Then the culture of the long term unemployment started...

The unemployed don't work in the private sector. I can't spell it out any more simply than that.

Oh. Wait. I can, the height of unemployment under Thatcher was immediately after Callaghan who had already screwed the country into the ground (see: Winter of discontent, also page 7 of this PDF).

Read your post again - you said "worked", the past tense of work. You sure you have a degree?

Oh and any analysis of Britain's economic woes that doesn't include the Barber Boom is an incomplete analysis imo.

I just find it hilarious that people think unions are to blame for the current mess.

Oh really yes, it's the excessive power of labour (not the political party) that is causing the problems now isn't it.

The only reason 99% of this forum have any employment rights at all is because of unions.

Thatcher is a waste of space & I won't be shedding any tears when she is gone.

Yes, the t-shirt is in bad taste (I wouldn't wear it, or support it personally) - but who said you have the right to not be offended?

Exactly, I must have missed the TUC conference where they started lending money in the form of subprime mortgages in the USA, then re-selling the debt to a bunch of Tim Nice-but-Dim's in the City.

Unfortunately people will forget what Labour did to the country (tax & spend) in the past (80s) and more recently and blindly vote them in again for another round of debt.

Labour weren't in power during the 80s.
