Ed 'Stewpot' Stewart - Crackerjack!!! Has Died

Sad news. :(

Crackerjack was awesome. I still remember not being able to sleep the night before our cubs were to go down to be in the audience. And by God that was rowdy. :D

If memory serves, wasn't Stewpot also in Look-In magazine every week too?

Wrestled his last action man. RIP.

Oops that was "Stu" Francis. I'll go crush my own grapes in contrition..

Stu Francis for me, tbh I didn't know anyone did it before or who this guy was until a google a minute ago.

Generational thing, like Doctor Who. My Doctor Who, meaning the one I remember the most/first was John Pertwee, yours I suggest was Tom Baker?

I am sorry to say I thought he was long dead, then I thought wow how has he escaped all the historical abuse stuff where it seems if you looked at a girl in the 60's then you were a pervert.

RIP Stewpot I remember you well from the radio.

I thought the same, and apparently he met his first wife when she was 13 and he was in his thirties? They got married 4 years later according to Wikipedia. I'm surprised that never came out much before, I only saw it in the comments of a news article about his death.

My parents took us to watch Crackerjack, filmed at television centre if I recall. Stu Francis had taken over by then though. I didn't realise they had carried all his 'oohh I could crush a grape' catchphrases over from Ed Stewart.
