EDGE settings?...Iphone...SSH...

Hi guys,

iPhone is great (02/Tesco unlocked), got a simplicity sim a few hours ago (it's not been activated yet but will be within 24 hours).

However, when I got to Network, there is no option for EDGE....I believe you have to edit something in SSH...But can you guys elaborate please. - Maybe throw the solution in the sticky

how to get edge working:
jailbreak handset and install openSSH
SSH onto iphone (there are a few guides around)
navigate to / > System > Library > Frameworks > CoreTelephony.framework > Support > O2_UK.plist
open the plist file and set APN to "mobile.o2.co.uk", username to "faster" and password to "web"
then turn off the phone. remove sim. turn on again. turn off. put sim back in. turn on, then go into settings > general > reset
and reset all phone settings (this wont delete your data)

Is the APN like he says just the EDGE?

Ignore the above, shockingly the EDGE works perfectly.....I have read a lot of people on 02 having problems - the settings are automatic

- Youtube etc work

Correct it is Automatic i never had to change a setting on mine for it to work

Yeah EDGE is automatic if you have a contract.

Wait until after the 15th obviously, but iPhone v2, if there is one, wont be around until late this year at the earliest imo.

Yeah, i brought it, unlocked it and it is great, just before all the hype i WILL sell the iphone v1, and put in like the remaning for V2... so it is not a big loss

- good plan me thinks

V2 is december this year......well predicted...so just go out and buy onne!...sell it nearer the time, and get the second version
