I've already got the creative t40 series 2 speakers and the Sony soundbar. The soundbar is terrible. I'm still pretty happy with the t40 speakers but I've had them forever and wondering if there'd be any improvement getting the Edifier r2000 speakers?

Use case is hooked up to a LG cx 65 inch OLED. Which has my PC hooked up to it with a 4080 super for gaming and general YouTube/music listening. Also movies and sport with paytv sub (Foxtel in Australia).

Can't outlay a huge amount at the moment and have kind of landed on the r2000 or nothing if there isn't much improvement. I'm pretty ignorant when it comes to audio tbh more into video calibration but I do want decent sound to go with it.

Ftr my impression of the soundbar is it's very tinny, lacking in bass even though it reviews well. I also have the t20s as well hooked up to a seperate 55 inch LG OLED. Any input is appreciated. Cheers.

First review I looked at
Says the Sony soundbar lacks bass
You could I guess use it alongside your speakers at same time
I did with my old Samsung soundbar
Just to give me sound coming from a different direction
Sort of fake surround sound if you like

Would have to say the edifier should be
A lot better than t40
Just looking at reviews not actually tried them
Depends how much bass you want
But something with a sub woofer would give you more

There's reviews of the edifier on YouTube
Though can't see one where they compare them to
The t40 in the same video

Me I am still using 10 year old Harmon kardon soundsticks
Sound great and have a subwoofer
Can't really see a need to change them
Though I am no audiophile
But if they still sound good see no reason to spend cash
If I don't have to

You could always buy the edifier
If don't like them you can just send them back

I would not buy edifier unless you find an amazing discount. I wanted some speakers to go with a HiSense TV, I heard some edifiers at a friend's place and was not impressed for the price. I bought a pair of Qacoustic 3030i speakers (used) and an old Yamaha AVR off ebay, spent a bit more than half what the edifiers cost new but sounds way better after some tweaking of the settings. And I also have the option to add a subwoofer and even centre/rear speakers in the future. Not as convenient or compact but way better sound quality for the money and very upgradeable.

The Edifier will be superior to the other two by a long shot, especially that soundbar.

What is your budget exactly? You might be better off with a LEPY mini AMP and some second hand Monitor Audio Bronze BR1's or Diamond 9.1's, it would potentially work out cheaper too.

I have been using Creative T40 Series 2 for ~7 years, might be a different version to the ones on sale now but they look the same. I think they sound great and are quite powerful.
