my new OC built pc arrived today & it is indeed a lovely thing, however i have a problem connecting my speakers.
I really like my Edifier 2.1 system,it's very well made & sounds extremely good too.
the problem lies with connecting them to my new rig,the speakers only have an optical socket or a coaxial socket (yellow) + red & white audio in sockets.
my old pc had an Asus Xonar DC sound card so i used the digital optical socket to connect my speakers.(i sold the old pc)
my new pc's m/b,which is a Gigabyte Z97-D3H,doesn't have an optical socket on it.
i managed to get a phono to 3.5mm lead in the hope that it would work but alas it didn't.
i don't want to install a soundcard unless it's absolutely necessary.
any ideas.

Yes, that cable is what you need.

I wouldn't buy that one though. £5 for a short piddly poor cable like that?

I'd go for something like this one, which is 1m length. 50cm might be a bit short, but there are shorter and longer lengths available if you need that.
