Edifier Speakers Any Good ? or Alternative

Edifier's stereo speakers are very good. I don't know what their budget 2.1 speakers are like though. Just looking at some user reviews elsewhere, there's not that many really. Hard to gauge how good they are, and how reliable.

I'd probably go with Logitech or Creative at this budget. There's a far greater wealth of user opinions. Logitech Z313, maybe?

I've had my pair for 3 years now and still sound as good as they did after a few days of running in, For the money I can't fault them.

Thanks for the quick feedback. Good shout on the Logitech Z313 also. Think i will be investing in these very shortly then.

Mine are awesome, too. The old RT1600s.
I assume there are comparable models now, as well as competitors, but for the money they are on point!!

Sadly not used any of their newer stuff so can't really comment but they made some solid stuff a few years back and my 1600s are exceptional for the money - bass is a touch bland and a little underwhelming but you have to spend significantly more money to get anything that can beat them for overall transparency and detail (the built in amp is decently low noise and low distortion as well).

I'm not sure about their entertainment speakers like 5.1 sets, etc. but one thing worth keeping in mind is that most of their stereo sets are setup to have a flat response (which is good if you are making music) and might not appeal to everyone - though that does give a lot of scope for adjusting the sound via equalisation, etc.

Thanks for the help . I have ordered these just today and will have them next week. Will let you know my thoughts when I get them

The Edifier 1600's were very good for the money. Good mids and high, round sound, just a little short on low frequencies but otherwise amazing for the £50 they use to sell for.

I actually run two passive 1600's (from two sets of 1600's) then connect them to a the Sub/Amp of an Edifier S530. What this does is give the sound of Edifier 1600's however it adds the lower frequencies that are missing from standard 1600's. If Edifier ever made this setup it would sell so much. To picture what I have google Edifier S530 then replace with standard S530 satellite speakers with two E1600's!

Dan103, those ones you have listed I don't expect will be very good. Mids will be washed out like most 2.1 setups. If you look at specs the power on those is really low also. Try them but I expect you will be returning those speakers.

EDIT. Just had a look at prices of Edifier speakers, I know the pound is low but everything is far more expensive then everything was a few years ago.

For the money though not going to really do better.

As above looking to purchase a budget speaker system and wondered if anyone knew if they were any good or if anyone has another budget system they could recommend I would be interested in hearing.

Budget £40 Ideally cheaper if possible

cheers

I gave up on computer speakers as there's always a compromise. You could do far worse than buying a pair of Roth bookshelf speakers (e.g. OLI RA1's) and a cheap dac/amp (e.g. Topping TP30), £150 all in for much better audio quality.

I've just spotted that in the original post I quoted too! Oops. I blame alcohol.

^^ And only 4x his budget.

when im in a better position financially i may be able to justify an increased budget. With a wedding and honeymoon in the next few months its a no no with the mrs !

I dont like headsets hence purchasing the desktop speakers. With Wearing glasses 90% of the time (work in office in front of screen all day) i havent tried a pair that i can comfortably use for extended periods with glasses on. cheers for all the feedback.

I wear glasses and i can wear my senns for hours at a time. Not suggesting you go and blow 10 times your budget on a pairt of headphones, but i think you'll be suprised how comfortable most full size HPs are.

I don't get on with my HD600s too well with glasses personally - hence I wear earbuds quite a bit unless I'm specifically listening to music for awhile.
