Hi guys,

I'm in the market for an 8-port gigabit switch. (Two reasons: I've run out of ports on my 5-port switch, and I'm now using the HP MicroServer to serve files, so it's time for me to upgrade to gigabit.)

So, I'm wondering if anyone has a particular reason to prefer one of these over the other:

Edimax ES-5800G

TP-Link TL-SG1008D

Thanks,
Simon

I got the TP-link one
Works fine throughput seems fine too getting around 70 -90 % in W7 to W7 transfers
Depends on your hdd how fast the transfers are capable of though :)

From using a few of there products I would be going for the TP link im very impressed with the value from there stuff.

Thanks, guys. I have a 5-port Edimax at the moment, which I quite like, but perhaps I'll try the TP-Link this time...

Question: Has anyone bought one from OcUK recently? Just want to know if they're selling the v2 (all black; one light per port). (The image is of the v1 (black/white; two lights per port), but I suspect that's out of date.)

Used em both. I think Edimax are crap, simple as that.
Had more edimax kit than TP-Link, as shop hasn't stocked TP-Link for that long.
