Started gaming online again (hawken) and my ping was going all over the place, up to 250ms!
Thinking its a limitation of the free D-link USB adapter (its decent to be fair)
I dug up my old Edimax EW-7728In 802.11n PCI WiFi Card
http://www.edimax.co.uk/en/produce_detail.php?pd_id=225&pl1_id=1&pl2_id=44
The one with three aerials that everyone raved about a few years ago.
I installed the driver directly from Ralink, for the RT2860 chipset, the latest is Sept 2012 one. The driver is correctly installed when looking via device manager.
Since then i've had a few BSODs (says Bug Check 0xD1: DRIVER_IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL)
and the connection will drop completely then reconnect again a short while later.
Peak dl and ul speeds are fine with the card when it works but it's dropping con every few minutes is really frustrating.
I'm writing this back on the USB adapter.
Thoughts? Its an old card but meant to be compatible with win7 64bit
Router is Asus N66U with BT infinity two
I actually have a spare identical Edimax card in another PC that isn't used anymore.
