edit video tracks

Could someone point me in the right direction to a program that works, as I req, to change VOB to AVI or MPEG to allow me to edit the track.
I have the file from a DVD recorder of the TV, which writes as a VOB file which I would like to put on the PC to edit, I can run the file but all the software that I have, ie Nero, DVD Shrink etc will allow you to view but not edit.

You could try VirtualDub, although it only writes avi files.

WinAVI will allow you to convert quickly from .VOB to .AVI

VOB is MPEG2. Run the DVD through DVD Decrypter and enable the stream processing and get it down to one audio track, then rename to MPEG2.

If you use VCD Cutter [my version is V4.11] it will allow you to import your VOB file directly into the program and clip the sections you want .It's good ,but I have had problems recently with codec's causing either ,no sound with picture or no picture.
I've recently used a section of a DVD for my C500 [smartphone] by using No1 DVD Ripper.It will rip the DVD or chapter and save it as an .avi , so you can edit easily.hope this helps
