Yes, you will need to purchase a copy.

Or they could use the developers copy of windows 8. Then purchase the OS later in the year and choose between 7 or 8 depending on what suits. This way they dont have to compromise on the spec :)

What do you mean by that? Sort of new to this. I appreciate all the help so far.

Does sound a bit cryptic, does the £700 include software as well as hardware or can you keep the spec I did above and add this to the order below:

You can do what honosueri suggested and use the developers copy but you would need to purchase the proper version at a later date and I think you would have reinstall the operating system again.
