I'd like to add several 'profiles' in Cura so that I can experiment with their impact on the simple models I'm printing at this early stage of my learning. (Changing scores of settings each time I print seems a potentially chaotic approach?)
I started by choosing 'Creality Ender-3' as the printer because surprisingly there's no Ender 3 V2 option on the list. I then changed the X,Y and Z dimensions. I left 'G-code flavor' at Marlin and also (less confidently) left all the Printhead Settings unchanged.
But should I now also edit the Ender 3 'Start G-code' and 'End G-code'?
Here are copies of both:
START
; Ender 3 Custom Start G-code
G92 E0 ; Reset Extruder
G28 ; Home all axes
G1 Z2.0 F3000 ; Move Z Axis up little to prevent scratching of Heat Bed
G1 X0.1 Y20 Z0.3 F5000.0 ; Move to start position
G1 X0.1 Y200.0 Z0.3 F1500.0 E15 ; Draw the first line
G1 X0.4 Y200.0 Z0.3 F5000.0 ; Move to side a little
G1 X0.4 Y20 Z0.3 F1500.0 E30 ; Draw the second line
G92 E0 ; Reset Extruder
G1 Z2.0 F3000 ; Move Z Axis up little to prevent scratching of Heat Bed
G1 X5 Y20 Z0.3 F5000.0 ; Move over to prevent blob squish
END
G91 ;Relative positioning
G1 E-2 F2700 ;Retract a bit
G1 E-2 Z0.2 F2400 ;Retract and raise Z
G1 X5 Y5 F3000 ;Wipe out
G1 Z10 ;Raise Z more
G90 ;Absolute positioning
G1 X0 Y{machine_depth} ;Present print
M106 S0 ;Turn-off fan
M104 S0 ;Turn-off hotend
M140 S0 ;Turn-off bed
M84 X Y E ;Disable all steppers but Z

I've just found a simple explanation of the G & M codes I see in the above:
https://www.simplify3d.com/support/articles/3d-printing-gcode-tutorial/
and am studying that.
I've also seen "Warning: Writing your own G-code can result in damage to your machine!" here!
https://support.ultimaker.com/hc/en-us/articles/360012733080-What-is-g-code-
so if there's a ready-made source file for Ender 3 V2 then naturally that's what I'll use initially.
I wasn't sure whether to post here first or in the Cura forum, so please advise if I got it wrong. I suppose I could do both without offending anyone?
