Hi guys,

Trying to edit a few files in /system32/ and it would seem that Vista is an over-protective piece of **** and won't allow me to do so.

I'm logged in as an Administrator and have even tried taking ownership of the folder, but it still won't let me do anything. Tried UAC on and off but I can't seem to get any further.

Looking for tips on how to turn the file system protection off completely. Group Policy editor didn't really help either.

Thanks :)

I think what you'd want to try is renaming the existing files, then pasting the new files in, rather than trying to overwrite the existing file.

Sorted, thanks Confused :)

I had to take ownership of the file first, then change the permisisons and then it'd allow me to rename it.

Cheers!
