1st Fighter Regiment, Polish Air Force, Minsk Mazowiecki Air Base, 1980's.
The Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-21 (Russian: Микоян и Гуревич МиГ-21; NATO reporting name: Fishbed) is a supersonic jet fighter and interceptor aircraft, designed by the Mikoyan-Gurevich Design Bureau in the Soviet Union. Its nicknames include: Balalaika, because its planform resembles the stringed musical instrument of the same name; Ołówek, Polish for "pencil", due to the shape of its fuselage, and; Én bạc, meaning "Silver Swallow", in Vietnamese.
Approximately 60 countries over four continents have flown the MiG-21, and it still serves many nations six decades after its maiden flight. It made aviation records, became the most-produced supersonic jet aircraft in aviation history, the most-produced combat aircraft since the Korean War and previously the longest production run of a combat aircraft (now exceeded by both the McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle and General Dynamics F-16 Fighting Falcon). It's also one of the earliest examples of planes capable of performing the Cobra maneuver.

UPDATE ONE
So the usual starting point was the cockpit area and also engine intake and exhaust areas.
Fit was excellent, so progress was quick.
I used CA and lead micro-shot in the nose cone.
Priming was completed using MRP's fine white primer and UMP's gloss black primer.
Then paint was laid on the form of Mr Hobby Aqueous H308 in the main cockpit areas and Tamiya XF-22 in the undercarriage ares. Both paints were mixed 50/50 with self levelling thinners.
The intakes and exhaust was painted with AK Xtreme metal aluminium, the internal engine ares with AK Xtreme metal titanium and the end exhaust with AK Xtreme metal gun metal. The nose cone was painted with MRP-32, green for Russian aerials.
