I've been looking around at a few of the third party mobile sellers like Mobiles.co.uk, affordablemobiles etc and noticed that a lot of the lower priced deals for EE are on the Essentials tariff.

How different is it exactly compared to Max? I know you get lower speeds but is it that noticeable and should it be avoided in favour of the Max plans?

Also, are there plans like this for other providers that should be avoided when considering a new contract?

Cheers.

In theory the speed on Essential plans is up to 60mbps but not sure how that translates in practice as I'm on Three but conflicting reports online. With a Max contract you also get the BT Sport App for the duration of your contract instead of 3 months. Which is handy if you're into your sport and other biggest difference I can think of is there's more countries covered for roaming, chiefly USA, Canada and Mexico.

Three also have Essential and Advanced plans, I don't believe there's any speed difference (at least officially) and biggest differences being that you can't tether on the former and it only covers EU for roaming.
