EE ID Delivery

Hey guys just ordered a new phone from EE i did it online and it was mentioned that i would require ID when the courier delivers the package. I have id around so this wasn't a problem

However with me not thinking clearly i forgot to think about how it will most likely be delivered on Monday and i probably won't be home then. Does it need to be me who signs and has id for this package or could for instance a relative whom will be in the house with ID sign for this.

I am asking really so i know if i should get in touch with work and let them know il be late in or if i will be ok to just go to work with no issues as i don't want to be chasing a phone all over the place really.

I didn't get asked for ID on mine from EE, but I assume it might vary by driver

Odd when did you buy from them online?

"delivery will normally take up to two working days, pre-order devices may take longer (we’ll let you know via text when it is due to be delivered). Upon delivery, you will need to provide photo ID, such as a passport or photocard driving licence, but if you’re not there when our courier calls, we’ll leave a card with details of what to do next."

Yep that was on my order as well from a couple of weeks ago, got the Z3 compact delivered, was all ready for the id request but the DPD driver never asked, just signed for it.

Last time I bought from them it was the same thing - warning about needing ID but never getting asked.

It varies - if the phone gets nicked by intercept fraud and the driver didn't do the verification then the delivery company have to pay. DPD are a bit more professional so are probably fine if you open the door for example. Yodel are more likely to give it to a random shady looking person standing outside your drive.
