I recently got GS6 2 year contract, and was wondering if EE Insurance was worth it.

So is it?

(Has anyone used it before, please share your experiences).

Thanks!

Brother in law has the full works package for his GS6 Edge. Had phone 2 weeks and dropped it, smashing screen completely.

Called EE, next day doorstep swap for new handset. Cost him £50 for excess mind.

It's a tenner a month and comes with lookout premium, loss and theft.

Only got a basic Lloyds bank so no insurance there, EE sounds pretty good with insurance so I'll go for it cheers guys.

But you can get home insurance for just a bit more than that which covers possessions on yourself when out of the house. Or am I missing something here?

Wouldn't it be better to go with EE since I can get next day phone replacement whereas Lloyds I've read somewhere it can take weeks to get a replacement.

Yeah good point, I've never used them but can't imagine the service would match that. I just couldn't bring myself to pay £10 pm just for mobile phone insurance, but I guess it depends on the individual, if you want to know you'll get that service it may be worth it to you.

£10 per month for mobile insurance is a complete rip off!

Indeed.
My car is worth £18k and I insure it fully comp for £230 per year with zero excess, that phone is worth £450 and they want £120 per year and £50 excess? Please....

Better off sticking that tenner in a piggy bank in your bedroom.

£10 per month is steep imo.
I would go for a bank account upgrade to include insurance or check out home insurance or at least shop around.

I remember the good old days when I got a contract with Orange and threw in insurance for free for the duration of the contract.

Well it depends doesn't it. If you don't have insurance with your bank or home insurance and don't intend/don't want to upgrade either to include it, what are your alternatives?

The Galaxy S6 is what, £400 off contract? (at the moment, I'm sure it cost more when it was released) So £10 per month for 2 years is £240 plus £75 excess (I'm pretty sure it's £75 on high end phones, might be only £50 now though) so if you make 1 claim it's cost you £315 over 2 years to insure your phone and get a refurbished replacement.

What happens if in month 5 you drop your phone or it get's stolen? you then have to pay over £400 upfront for a replacement, which is always going to be more expensive than having insurance.

You can get Damage Cover only for £6.50 instead which drops that down to £231 over 2 years with a claim if you're not worried about loss and theft.

And the big reason you pay more with a phone company than you do with Home/Bank insurance is for that same (before 11am) or next day (after 11am) delivery. If you lose your phone or it gets stolen, will you want to wait the probably 30 days for a replacement? If not then the insurance is for you.
