EE roaming - older contracts

My EE SIM only deal started just under 2 years ago. It seems I can roam in the EU for free due to the age of the contract (starting prior to 7th July 2021).

I tend to use my single smart benefit on BT Sports and then pay extra for the big screen. From what I can tell, this works out the cheapest way to watch BT Sport in UHD on my TV.

If I get another new contract then I'll lose my EU roaming benefit. If I don't renew and keep rolling, I'm assuming I would keep the benefit and they won't remove it from me? I don't want a new deal with more than one smart benefit as it would work out too expensive. But I do have a 20% off code now and it'll make my monthly bill slightly cheaper. Anyone else in the same or similar situation?

You will keep the Roaming if you continue the contract on a rolling basis however there is no guarantee they won't pull it later.

Either that or, over subsequent RPI rises, the monthly deal will become uncompetitive in the future landscape compared to more "modern" tariffs and people will leave them.

I don't plan to renew and will pay for phones outright now as I am on a legacy roaming plan.

Thanks, pretty much what I've also worked out. To get the same or better plan, I have to spend a lot more money per month than I am now. I'll keep an eye on their deals and upgrade if they have a decent one on, or as you say, once RPI rises make it uncompetetive.
