Hi folks,

Just managed to snag a 100GB/unl/unl on EE for 56 quid a month. Fyi for those interested they'll do you a 20% tariff discount with zero effort - I was planning on buying a smashed S10 for their trade in tariff.

Anyway, I haven't owned my own phone for over a decade. What's the crack on phone insurance?

Samsung do their own which I recommend, as it ensures you get genuine Samsung replacement parts.

Thanks - I'm thinking more for loss or theft than repairs/damage though. Touchwood I haven't had a repair required for a long time!

I go through nationwide.

Phone, AA car breakdown and travel insurance all for 13 quid.

Covers joint accounts to so even better, Mrs is covered

I'm guessing:
  • They'll give you a used/refurb replacement phone or £500 on a S22 Plus when it's clearly worth more but you need to pay a £200 excess,
  • Standard AA coverage which isn't very helpful in the event of a breakdown,
  • Bottom of barrel travel insurance?
It's not a personal attack on you - I've just had this experience in the past with bank insurances. Happy to be proven wrong.

Have a ganders

Yeah I have always been trained that Current Account 'plus' are normally poor value either for the coverage or the cost. I have a Nationwide, COOP and RBS account though so I'll definitely check them out. If your partner also needs coverage I think the balance tips.

Samsung Care looks good but it doesn't cover loss. Now I've never lost a mobile but sods law given this one is one I own, it could happen! Perhaps I'll do Samsung Care for the important stuff and then loss on my usual insurance.

Thanks folks.

It's considerably better than that:

£50 excess on an Android Repair - used to be £25 I think, have used it 2 or 3 times - you can get 4 repairs a year. Really fast turnaround as well.
Top of the line breakdown cover (including home assist). I used them once to come and take a wheel off my car at my house as you can't use a normal jack on my car due to the bodykit and I didn't have a low profile trolley jack. Also got them to trailer my sons car from the house to a local garage for repairs I'd arranged at no cost to me.
Extremely good worldwide travel insurance.

Indeed. He couldn't have been more wrong.

Maybe apart from the refurb replacement handsets. However they are indistinguishable from new so that's fine with me.

AA Breakdown covers Europe too.
