Our Landline at home is with BT. It has a modern DECT phone with caller display etc. and supports text messaging. People can send the landline a text message and the phone displays the text message fine.

Apart from myself on EE.

If I text the landline, they get a call from 07953 966066 which reads out "You have a text message from <myname>, the message is <text message>".

I've googled it and 07953 966066 is the EE/Virgin text to speech service. It thinks it is being helpful and to avoid sending a text message to a landline that couldn't cope, it rings them up and reads out the message. (To set the sender name it reads out an EE customer can text 27777).

The problem is that our BT landline doesn't need EE/Virgin to call on 07953 966066 and read the message out - our phone can cope with the actual text message!

Any ideas how I tell EE to not convert the text message to speech, just send the text message on as it is?

The really annoying thing is that it used to work fine until a couple of days ago, but then something must have changed at EE's end and it decided to convert text messages to speech!
