eee pc 700 keys not working alll the time

hey guys my uncle gave me an eee pc 700 and it works fine but someetimes the keys dont register when i hit them and i must hit it harder
does any one else have this problem

also is it possible to upgrade the ram to 1 gig (2g surf) the ssd to 20 gig and the battery and if so how much will it all be and how long will the battery lst
