Hi,

Got a problem with an EEE 701 and was wondering if it was something common to the Eees or if it's defective.

After a full charge the battery lasts about 2-3 hours of minimal use, albeit with the screen brightness not reduced by any great amount. This is okish, but could be better. The main issue is that when the thing is completely switched off, the battery lasts about 6 hours. That's 6 hours of charge without turning the thing on, which really does seem wrong to me.

Anyone with the same issue or a fix for it?

hi m8 ..

had a Eeepc701 just upgraded to a 901 :)

my 701 lasted about 2 1/2 hours using the wifi an nearly 3 1/2 hours normal use, so i'd say thats about right ...

u can get 10600mha batteries that'll increase battery life up to 6-7 hours normal use, online for about £50 ish, just type "Eeepc 701 battery" into goggle :)

Are you actually turning the machine off, or is it going into a standby mode of some sort?

My original 701 doesn't suffer from it that badly - if I leave it without the power cord it takes a good 2 weeks for the battery to run down - tho even thats a bit bad as I can leave my other laptop 2 months and the battery will still be holding over 80% of the original charge...
