Ok, ive been offered a cheap EEE 701 PC with a 2Gb SD card installed, 512Mb RAM and linux

Im not overly keen on the size of the card as i wanted to put Windows XP on it, so would one of these work in the SD card slot or even replacing the included 2Gb card?

Yes. I have a 701 and use a 8gb SDHC in it. (not the one you linked, but I dont see why it wouldn't work)

Yes, but I wouldnt bother. The 701 is great at what it does, eg a cheap and cheerful Linux netbook. 512mb running linux is enough. The linux installed is dead easy to use and has all the functionality you need on such a small machine.

I also have the 901 running XP and whilst its better than the 701, due to the bigger screen its not that much better regarding functionality. Xp isnt exactly swift on the 901 and all I find myself using it for is firefox and video playback in VLC. Both of which the 701 can do just as well in linux.
