Eee PC Netbook - Word 2010 doesn't work any more?

Hi there - I have an Asus Eee PC netbook which is just about 3 years old and WORD 2010 has just stopped working. When I open it up it asks for a licence number - it has never done that before?

Does the "free" version expire after 3 years? Peculiar

I'm pretty sure there is no such thing as a "free" version of Word 2010

It's not free - it came pre-installed as the "starter edition" with an allegedly perpetual licence!

Update - seems one Microsoft update "broke" it. Cured remotely by M-soft tech. Good!!

Thanks - I think that this is what he did! Apparently causing a few problems.

You can try Office 2010 starter.

Yes an update last week broke the file associations, you can fix by selecting "Microsoft Client virtualization handler" as the default program for .doc .docx .xls .xlsx files.

Office 2010 start is not actually free system builders had to pay a small licence fee to pre-install it.
