What a fool am I!

I recently purchased a used Nikon D100 as some of you know, and I've also bought the 18-70 f3.5-4.5G lens to partner.

I've given the combination a short blast in the garden and I'm quite impressed so far. The handling is fast as your hands can be, focusing quick and quiet and iq is about 50 times better than my old compact (which I donated to the wife).

Well then. There I was playing about in the garden in AP mode, photographing flowers etc, and all of a sudden I found that I was unable to alter the aperture above the widest setting. I tried resetting the camera, changing to Manual mode, reading the manual, scouring the net (bad idea, made me very paranoid), everything! There I was tearing my hair out thinking I'd be taking it to be repaired at my local camera shop for £££s when suddenly by accident I remembered that there are 2 selector wheels (one front, one back) on the hand grip and I was trying to adjust the aperture with the shutter wheel. What a tit.

Well, thats the first hour with the camera. I hope it gets better!

I'll post some shots when I get something that isn't too typical of most first shots with a new camera (i.e. flowers)!
