Well, just had a short surge in my area and my power cut for like 2 seconds, now my monitor and other stuff went out and my psu stayed on ..

was just thinking is that a bad thing is my system going to die or something ..

:S

PSU in sig

I think it stays on as a safety feature so it doesnt damage any other components and data stays safe.

I sense a new fad in the making.

Spec me a house.

Posters will then ask the poster various questions, such as whether the system is Intel or AMD? Do you run Crossfire on updated drivers? Do you need a monitor, an operating system, a dog or a garden?

Either way, yes, quality PSUs are a godsend for surges. That and for power efficiency.

If it happens a lot (not just several times today, but usually fine) I would consider getting a UPS, they have very good surge, spike, blackout & brownout protection, so your PC won't even notice if something happens to your mains supply.
