At 8 this morning I set off on the 3hr drive south from Newcastle to Runcorn to see Chris at EFI Parts and get my Mk2 Megane R26 remapped. The car was originally mapped back in 2014 by one of its previous owners at K-TEC, however they didn't scale the upgraded 630cc injectors in correctly resulting in my fuel gauge and MFD not reading true. The car drove OK but I suspected it was running rich and it wasn't the smoothest in its power delivery.
I got down to EFI Parts and Chris strapped the car down on the dyno and did a power run to see how it performed in its current state of tune. It pulled a good 286bhp and 320ft lbs and as suspected was running overly rich.
Chris commented that the engine was strong and explained that he would lower the torque to nearer 300ft lbs (the accepted "safe" level) and lean it off slightly and hopefully gain some bhp.
Chris worked his magic and after some tweaking the car pulled a great 296.6hp and 307ft lbs. Boost pressure has been lowered slightly but it now holds boost for longer. The car now pulls a lot smoother and stronger at the top end compared to the old map. Chris mentioned that this is the strongest Mk2 Megane he's had on his dyno running a stock turbo :sunglasses::cool:

All in all I'm extremely pleased and would highly recommend Chris at EFI Parts if you're in need of any mapping work.

That's a much nicer curve than before!

Are EFI the 'go to' for tuning these cars? Currently looking to get one myself, albeit a 225.

EFI are well thought of in the Clio world too, anybody running a boosted Clio engine or Meg engine conversion will be advised to make the trip to Runcorn for tuning.

I can see why from that curve!

Chris mapped my Clio 200 and I was delighted with his work, he's one of the most reputable tuners in Renault circles and the only place I'd take a car for mapping work now (Renault or otherwise)

I've been to EFI for a rolling road day with a club, his knowledge is simply amazing. He's mapped by friends track Astra and did an amazing job. Definitely my go-to recommendation for anyone!

Amazing torque curve on that though, and beautifully smooth power. It's so good having a ton of torque through the rev range.

I had a nose round that, mental bit of kit :)

Yeah, it's a crazy little 5. Chris said it used to run 10.1s 1/4mile but hasn't used it in years. He's just rebuilt the engine over the winter and is hoping to get it back on the strip.

The turbo on it is ******* huge

Chris seems well renowned for being a very good mapper in Renault and standalone ECUs. If you want maximum internet points then you can go to RS Tuning who are apparently the best Renault tuners in the country. I did contact them prior to speaking to Chris but didn't get a very good vibe off of them. Plus they aren't open weekends and cost an extra £100 or so

Oh god, that before curve!

To be honest quite a lot other Megane dyno graphs I've seen on line look similar to my before graph. I presumed it was a trait of the engine but obviously not and a great smooth delivery is possible if mapped properly

That's a fantastically flat torque curve! Must be lovely to drive now.

It's truly great. I just can't wait to get it on track and over to the Nurburgring to see how it performs
