God, what a palarver today.

I've had a Loan with egg for the past 2 years. Haven't missed a payment or anything. Also had an Egg credit card that i used to use but then paid it all off. Havent used it for 12 months.

So I called them last week and asked if I could borrow some more money to pay for a holiday to Florida. I went through the usual speil with them about my earnings, my outgoings, etc etc. I was honest with them - didnt hide anything. They tried for 10minutes to flog me the payment protection stuff that I was insistant I didnt want, yet took them 10minutes to get it. That convo lasted about 35mins. I was then sent the papers to sign and send back which I did.

Today, I get a phone call from them asking why I hadn't been paid last month. They couldn't find my wages on the bank statements I sent them. When he looked again he found it. Then, I went through another 50minutes of questions!! Asking exactly the same stuff agian and more. And I know he knew i'd answered all these cause he had the notes from the first phone call!. They were asking me about everything. Felt quite invasive.

I am considering writing a letter to them complaining cause honestly, they really did badger me about everything. Asking me what I would do if I had some of the money left over after the holiday, asking me how I got the money to pay off my credit cards totalling 1800 quid, asking me how I spend my wages each month, even asking me what the one thing I do actually use my credit card every month for for 20 quid (its Giganews)- he was asking what exactly that was. Surely thats not right?

My mum seems to think that its out of order - as I should only have to provide the basic details of what I want the money for. They should be able to see from my bank statements and credit score what my financial status is, especially considering I am an existing customer. She said she was surprised I let it carry on and that I didnt tell them to shove it. I persoanlly think its their way of getting as much info on you as possible to try and rope you into taking on extras (like the payment protection).

What do you guys think?
